► After arrival at Stuttgart Airport take "S-Bahn" Train

Any S-Bahn that leaves the Airport is travelling towards Universität, Feuersee, Stadtmitte, Hauptbahnhof (=Central train station), so take the next one that leaves

► Get off at Station “Stadtmitte” (= Centre of town)

            Travelling time from Aiport to Stadtmitte is about 25 min.

    TO HOTEL “Sautter”

            ► Leave the platform towards the travelling direction of the train

                        U-Bahn is marked out (to this direction) – see blue "U"

            ► Go upstairs with the escalator to the midlevel floor

            ► There take U-Bahn (subway) U4 Direction “Botnang” (violet)

            ► Get off Station “Schloss- / Johannesstraße” (2 ^nd Stop – 3 min)

            ► At the Corner of the crossroad you’ll find

                        HOTEL SAUTTER – Address: Johannesstr. 28

Another simpler alternative is to leave the S-Bahn at station “Feuersee” and then take a 10 min walk to the Hotel (walk around the lake and behind the church, see map.

    TO HOTEL “Wartburg”

            ► Leave the platform towards the travelling direction of the train

Go upstairs with the escalator to the midlevel floor

            ► Take the exit on the right hand side immediately (further escalator)

            ► Go straight and turn right after some meters (Hospitalstraße)

            ► At the Corner of the crossroad (Hospitaltstr. – Lange Straße) you’ll find

                        HOTEL WARTBURG – Address: Lange Str. 49

► After Arrival at Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (= Central Station) take "S-Bahn " Train              (basement – follow the green "S")

► Direction to be chosen: Vaihingen / Flughafen / Herrenberg

► You can take every train of S1, S2 … S6

► Get off next station “Stadtmitte” (= Centre of town)

           

   TO HOTEL “Sautter”

► After arrival at Stuttgart Airport take "S-Bahn" Train

Any S-Bahn that leaves the Airport is travelling towards Universität, Feuersee, Stadtmitte, Hauptbahnhof (=Central train station), so take the next one that leaves

► Get off at Station “Universität”

            Travelling time from Aiport to Universität is 15 min

► Leave the station towards the travelling direction of the train

- Follow signs showing direction “Endelbang/Schranne”

- Take two escalators and after a glass wall take the right exit

(no escalator there!)

► Follow the small footpath behind the grass dam straight, seeing already a silver coloured building (IWS   – Hydraulic Laboratory) – see also plan C

► After some meters go right side to the entrance of the IWS Versuchshalle (Lab)

- Being there, follow the arrows to the meeting point!

(estimated total travel time: 20 min)

► After Arrival at Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (= Main Station) take "S-Bahn " Train      (Basement / follow the green “S”-Sign)

- Direction to be chosen: Vaihingen / Flughafen / Herrenberg

            - You can take train S1, S2 or S3

            DO NOT take S4, S5 or S6 (the terminal is not far enough)

► Get off at 4^th stop: Station “Universität ”

            Travelling time from “Hauptbahnhof” to “Universität” is 10 min.

► Leave the station with travelling direction of the train

- Follow signs showing direction “Endelbang/Schranne”

- Take two escalators and after a glass wall take the right exit

(no escalator there!)

Additional Information:

For a first inofficial "Welcome-Meeting" on Wednesday evening (March 7 ^th, 2001), the location is: Restaurant/Bar "Wartburg" – Gutenbergstr. 87 at Stuttgart downtown.

You could take the S-Bahn; get off at station "Schwabstraße" (see also map above!).

 

 

 

S-Bahn Tickets: Tickets are available for cash at orange machines only, not on train level. For single ride ticket check number of Station you want to go to (Universität, Stadtmitte etc.) and enter, then pay indicated amount of cash.

For Thursday and Friday we suggest you buy a Tageskarte (24 hours) for 1-2 zones (not valid to and from airport) at 9.-DM. That allows you to use all public transportation.
